Historic downtown friendly eatery. Absolutely the best Collard greens we've ever had. Spinach artichoke dip and chicken salad were also very good. Loved reading the history on the back of the menu.

Quality food, a great place to eat where everyone knows your name! There are a good variety of menu items from vegetarian to BBQ! There's usually entertainment. And if you're invited to a party or event here, prepare to be spoiled. Lots of good choices. Food is always served fresh and fast. Step back in time at 1841 Cafe - the atmosphere will take you back to yesteryear. It's just a wonderful place to be! Update to review: just are there last night and it was delicious as always. Friendly service and lots of new items to choose from. The salads, soups and sandwiches are especially good. Enjoy! (March 15, 2023)

The food was delicious, service was good. Burgers were one of the best and so were the sweet potato fries. Went back next day for lunch!

Loved this restaurant experience. The building and decor is very interesting. The owner came by our table and was very friendly. The bar options were great and included local brews. The wait staff was very attentive. The food was delicious. The wait for seating and our food when ordered was minimum. This was my second visit and I will be back next time I'm in town

Judy and I ventured away from where we were camping last night. June 14th is our anniversary, so we wanted to have a nice supper out. This place was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. Brian, our server was really hustling, but pretty quick on getting our drinks. This was the first place I found during this trip that had PBR. That and a cold mug set the mood right away. Judy ordered a glass of Riesling. She said it was very good. The kitchen was backed up, but when our meals came out, they were hot and delish. Judy ordered chicken stuffed with something. I'm not sure what, but she liked it. I got a Ruben on Rye with a side of fries. My sandwich was hot and thick. The fries were plentiful and perfect. After our meal, things had slowed down, so Vickie caught up with Judy and showed her around. This is a nice big building with so much potential. Outside was a monsoon, and our truck was parked in the next block. Vickie gave Brian two big umbrellas so he could walk us to our truck. Unfortunately, there were several inches of fast flowing water around the truck, so we all got wet feet. Thank you Brian. I hope you dried off! Thank you Vickie, for looking after us. We will be back again.

We lucked upon this gem of a cafe and bar. Vicky was like a long lost friend and on top of wonderful service the food was simply amazing. We loved it so much we came back the next day. Everything we ate was so delicious and fresh. It was a great dining experience and wish they were also located in Ft Worth Texas. Treat yourself and dine at 1841 Cafe in Lenoir NC.

Absolutely delicious food and great service. Spinach dip is very good. So it the blackened chicken sandwich and pup chips. Never had anything here that wasn't good! Also great chicken salad sandwich and salads!
